Flash flood warning issued for Meridian and parts of Lauderdale County

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Meridian and portions of Lauderdale County until 8 p.m. tonight, according to the City of Meridian-Government.

Heavy rainfall may cause flooding in low-lying areas and along roadways. Officials urged people to use caution, avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas and continue monitoring official weather updates.

Drivers should not travel through flooded streets or go around barricades. The warning included the reminder: “Turn around, don’t drown.”
