The Lee County Sheriff’s Department recieved a report on August 25th from a woman that stated that she had been asked on Saturday, August 24th to come to the home of her former boyfriend, but when she arrived he got into her car and used force to drive him to a store near where the kidnapping happened.
Heath Bennett, 40, of the Auburn community was arrested on Wednesday, August 28th by the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department and charged with felony kidnapping and domestic violence simple assault after.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, Bennett told the female victim that he would shoot her in the head if she did not comply with his wishes.
After arriving at the store, the victim was able to get away from Bennett safely after he exited the car.
Bond was set by a Lee County Justice Court Judge at $15,000 for the kidnapping charge and $1,000 for the domestic violence charge.
