Facebook post criticizes New York data center restrictions, pledges Ingraham appearance

A Facebook post criticized New York for “banning data centers, entering moratoriums and surrendering the future of technology to China,” and said the author will join conservative commentator Laura Ingraham at 6 p.m. CT to discuss the issue, the post said.

Data centers house servers that power cloud computing, internet services and large-scale data processing. They are significant to local economies because they can bring construction jobs, long-term technical employment and demand for electricity and infrastructure.

Local and state governments sometimes impose moratoriums or stricter rules on construction projects while they review zoning, environmental or infrastructure concerns. Advocates for attracting data center investment argue such decisions can affect competitiveness and where companies choose to locate operations.

The post did not provide evidence to support its claims about statewide action in New York. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
