Toppers walk off twice, sweep No. 12 Mobile on senior day

Blue Mountain Christian swept No. 12 Mobile with back-to-back walk-off victories on Senior Day in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, the school said in a news release.

Game 1 was a pitching duel until the bottom of the seventh. Madison Montgomery tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits, and Maryn Macri, running for Vaye Savage, scored on a double to left-center by Bre Ramsey to lift the Toppers to a 1-0 walk-off win.

In Game 2 Blue Mountain Christian built a 4-0 lead. Aspen Teague produced a sacrifice fly in the third, and the Toppers extended the margin in the sixth on an RBI double by Savage, a run-scoring single by Lakyn Nichols and an RBI double by Karen Wisher.

Mobile rallied for four runs in the seventh to tie the game. Neely Cooper was struck by a line drive during the inning, and Montgomery entered in relief and completed the frame. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Savage was hit by a pitch that brought home the winning run in a 5-4 walk-off.

Anna Harrison went 2-for-3 with two runs in Game 2, and Savage finished with two RBIs as part of a balanced offensive effort, the release said. Blue Mountain Christian returns to action April 22 at Bethel University (Tenn.). This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
