Mizzou RB Ahmad Hardy remains in stable condition after Mississippi concert shooting

University of Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy remains in stable condition after being shot at a concert in Mississippi in the early morning hours Sunday, the school said Monday. Hardy underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition, the university said.

Mizzou Athletics confirmed Hardy sustained a gunshot wound but did not disclose the location of the concert or additional details surrounding the shooting. No law enforcement information has been made public, the school said.

Hardy, a Lawrence County High School graduate, led the Southeastern Conference with 1,649 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in 2025 and earned All-American, SEC Newcomer of the Year and All-SEC honors. He set a Missouri single-season rushing record after transferring to the Tigers following the 2024 season at Louisiana-Monroe.

ESPN reported that a source told the network Hardy was alert Monday and moving around and that there is optimism he will play football again, though the extent of any impact on his future is not yet known. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
