Allie Hazelwood earns second Sun Belt Setter of the Week honor

Southern Miss senior setter Allie Hazelwood earned her second Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week honor of the 2026 season Tuesday after helping the Golden Eagles open conference play with two road victories at LA Tech in Ruston, Louisiana.

Hazelwood led the Sun Belt in total assists and assists per set for the week, recording 83 assists and averaging 11.86 assists per set. Southern Miss averaged 14.57 kills per set and hit .239 as a team during the weekend.

She recorded 37 assists in Friday’s 3-0 victory over LA Tech, the most in a three-set match by any Sun Belt player that week. Hazelwood also had two kills and five digs in the match.

In Saturday’s four-set victory, Hazelwood posted 46 assists, 14 digs and two block assists for her third double-double of the season. Her 46 assists were the most by any Sun Belt player in a single match that week.

Through 13 matches this season, Hazelwood leads the Sun Belt with 10.74 assists per set, a mark that ranks 14th nationally. Her 494 total assists are second-most in the conference.

With Tuesday’s honor, Hazelwood became the first Southern Miss volleyball player to earn multiple conference Setter of the Week awards in the same season since 2011, when Kelsea Seymour earned back-to-back Conference USA Setter of the Week honors on Nov. 14 and Nov. 21. Hazelwood is also the first player in program history to earn multiple Sun Belt Setter of the Week honors in her career since Southern Miss joined the conference in 2022.
