Auditor White tells graduates family is most meaningful thing
State Auditor Shad White told graduates recently that family is the most meaningful thing in life, linking personal priorities to broader public concerns.
White, who leads the Mississippi State Auditor’s Office, spoke about family during remarks to graduates. The auditor’s office oversees audits of state agencies and local governments and issues reports intended to identify fiscal risks and inefficiencies in public spending.
White’s office produced a report a few years ago on the taxpayer cost of fatherlessness in Mississippi, a document he cited to underscore that family structures can have fiscal as well as personal implications. He told graduates that starting a family will be one of the most meaningful things they can do even as they pursue other accomplishments.
The comments tie a personal message to topics that have appeared in public policy discussions about social outcomes and state budgets. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
