Facebook post thanks law enforcement after Simpson County violence

In a Facebook post, an author thanked law enforcement officers who responded to an “awful situation” in Simpson County and asked readers to pray for a Simspon County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was hit and for others affected by what the post called a “senseless act of violence,” the post said.

The post asked Mississippians to “pray for a full recovery” for the deputy and to offer prayers for “all of our fellow Mississippians whose lives will forevermore be changed by this senseless act of violence,” the message said. It added: “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and friends, and with all those affected by this tragic event.”

Simpson County is in central Mississippi and is served by the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office. The social media post did not provide additional details about the incident or identify the deputy by name.

Violent incidents can have lasting effects on small communities and local law enforcement. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
