Tropical Storm Bertha is forecast to make landfall in lower Louisiana tomorrow afternoon, and a storm surge of 2 to 4 feet is expected along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Tate Reeves said in a Facebook post.
Reeves, the governor of Mississippi, said some rainfall is expected across south Mississippi, although the heaviest rain is currently forecast to remain south of the storm’s center over the open waters of the Gulf of America.
Storm surge and coastal flooding are common hazards with tropical storms, and even modest surge and rainfall can produce dangerous conditions for low-lying communities, roads and infrastructure. Residents along the Gulf Coast should monitor forecasts and be prepared for coastal inundation and localized flooding.
