The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office received a commemorative flag from the Mississippi State Society Daughters of the American Revolution in recognition of the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
The flag will be displayed in front of the Hinds County Circuit Court Building alongside the U.S. flag and Mississippi state flag throughout the rest of September. The display honors the victims, first responders and others affected by the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
