DPS tower demolition will prompt brief I-55 closure in Jackson

The former Mississippi Department of Public Safety Administration Tower is scheduled for demolition Sunday morning, with the event beginning at 7:45 a.m. in Jackson, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

Officials are urging the public not to attend in person and instead watch the demolition through an MDOT Traffic camera.

I-55 in Jackson will briefly close for up to 30 minutes, from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m., to accommodate the demolition.
