Women’s self-defense class fills up
Organizers said the women’s self-defense class scheduled for July 9, 2026, has filled up after an overwhelming response from the community.
The free, two-hour session is set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is taught by Instructor Emma Baptiste. Organizers said the course is designed for women ages 12 and up and aims to provide practical knowledge to reduce the risk of violence and teach effective self-defense techniques.
Organizers thanked the public for the strong interest and urged those who were unable to secure a spot to stay tuned for announcements about future classes. They said registration must be completed prior to attending and asked people to contact Community Relations for more information.
To inquire about registration or future sessions, call Community Relations at 228-868-5703, organizers said. Self-defense training is often used by community groups and law enforcement as one tool to increase personal safety and confidence. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
