Vicksburg police arrest three after suspect jumps from motel balcony
VICKSBURG, Miss. — Investigators with the Vicksburg Police Department were serving an arrest warrant Tuesday, June 30, when a 19-year-old suspect fled and jumped from a second-floor balcony at a Motel 6 off Frontage Road, the department said in a Facebook post.
The department identified the suspect as Demetrius Cormier, who was wanted on multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants. Cormier landed headfirst, sustained injuries and was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel before being transported by ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for further medical care, the post said.
Officers also located several people in the room who had outstanding warrants. Omarion Nelson and Neaveh Davis were arrested for violation of a misdemeanor court order (protective order), and Phillip Moore was arrested on an outstanding domestic violence warrant. Investigators recovered a firearm from the hotel room, the department said.
Serving arrest warrants at motels and hotels is a common tactic when investigators have location information, and the department did not provide additional details about charges beyond the outstanding warrants. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
