Tupelo police seek suspect in vehicle burglary at Walmart market
Tupelo police and Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi are asking the public for help locating a man accused of stealing a purse from a vehicle March 8 at the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 316 South Gloster, the departments said.
Officers responded at about 7:08 p.m. after a woman reported that an unidentified male entered her vehicle while she was loading groceries into the rear and removed her purse, the Tupelo Police Department said. The suspect fled on foot down Carnation Street behind a nearby business.
The purse was later recovered in that area, but about $300 in cash was missing, the department said. Officials did not provide a suspect description in their public post.
Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi urged anyone with information to call 800-773-TIPS (8477) or submit an anonymous tip through the P3 Tip App. Crime Stoppers said it will pay up to $2,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest and added that it seeks information, not names. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
