Tornado warning issued for four Mississippi counties until 9:15 a.m. CDT
A tornado warning has been issued for George, Greene, Perry and Stone counties in Mississippi until 9:15 a.m. CDT, according to a Facebook post.
The warning covers counties in the southeastern part of the state. The post did not include additional details about storm reports, damages or the issuing agency.
The National Weather Service issues tornado warnings when a tornado has been sighted or indicated by radar; such warnings mean people in the affected area should take shelter immediately. Officials and weather agencies typically advise moving to a small interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, staying away from windows and monitoring local emergency channels for updates.
Residents in the warned counties should follow guidance from local authorities and weather services and avoid travel if possible until the warning expires. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
