Storm damage prompts road closures; motorists urged to avoid affected areas

A Facebook post warned motorists that storm damage has occurred at multiple locations and that personnel are working to clear roadways. The post said drivers should avoid listed areas and use alternate routes while crews remove debris and address hazards.

As heavy rains continue to fall throughout the day, the post reiterated the safety message “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.” It cautioned drivers never to drive through areas where water is rushing across roadways or is heavily ponding, a situation that can stall vehicles or sweep them off the road.

Flooding and storm-related road damage commonly force temporary closures and detours, creating hazards for emergency responders and motorists alike. Officials and transportation crews typically prioritize clearing main arteries first and will work to reopen secondary roads as conditions allow.

Motorists should monitor local officials’ social media and traffic updates for specific location lists and detour information. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
