Southaven officers speak to Desoto Central drivers education class
Officers Holliday and Grace of the Southaven Police Department spoke this week to students in the drivers education class at Desoto Central High School, the department said in a Facebook post. The officers spoke on safe driving and the importance of obeying traffic laws, the post said.
The Southaven Police Department, which serves the city of Southaven, Mississippi, frequently engages in community outreach and school programs to promote public safety, the department said in previous posts. Law enforcement visits to schools are a common way to reinforce traffic safety messages for new drivers.
Drivers education classes play a crucial role in developing responsible driving habits among teenagers by teaching traffic laws, hazard recognition and safe decision-making on the road. Officials and educators say such instruction aims to reduce crash risk for new drivers and improve safety for all road users.
