Police and deputies continue the third day of a search for Kevin Clay Adams, known as “KC,” who was last seen at approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25, in the Polkville community, Sheriff Joel Houston said in a Facebook post.
Investigators said they have developed information that someone attempted to steal a four-wheeler from a nearby residence but the homeowner removed the keys and prevented the theft. The focus of the search has shifted from the area of an earlier shooting Friday to an area about three miles east where several of Adams’ known associates live.
Houston said those associates have been cooperative with law enforcement. He added that the area where Adams was last seen is adjacent to the Bienville National Forest and that Adams is believed to be familiar with the terrain, which has complicated search efforts.
Deputies and assisting agencies have spent the day searching wooded areas, trails, cutovers and storage buildings. Houston said Adams has not had access to his cell phone since about 1:30 p.m. Friday because the phone was left at the original scene.
Houston thanked citizens who have donated water, snacks and meals to officers and emergency personnel and thanked local, state and federal partners for their assistance. He urged residents to remain vigilant, secure homes and vehicles, and remove keys from ATVs and other recreational vehicles.
