Severe weather possible in Mississippi; residents urged to stay alert
A Facebook post warned that “Severe weather is possible today. Stay weather aware, Mississippi!” and urged residents to remain alert for hazardous conditions.
Severe weather can include damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes and heavy rain that can cause localized flooding. Such conditions pose risks to drivers, outdoor workers and people in mobile or poorly constructed buildings, making preparedness important.
Officials and meteorologists typically communicate changing conditions through the National Weather Service, local broadcasters, emergency alert systems and social media. Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts, have a plan for shelter and keep a battery-powered radio or phone alerts available for watches and warnings.
Local emergency management agencies often post guidance ahead of storms, and utility companies may issue advisories about potential outages. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
