Rankin County Sheriff’s Department posts Happy President’s Day greeting

Rankin County Sheriff’s Department posted a brief President’s Day greeting on its Facebook page, writing “Happy President’s Day.”

The department is the primary law enforcement agency for Rankin County, Mississippi, responsible for patrol, investigations and jail operations in the county. The Facebook post reflects a common practice by local agencies to use social media to share holiday messages and public-safety information with residents.

President’s Day is a federal holiday observed annually on the third Monday in February to honor the nation’s presidents. Many government offices, courts and schools alter hours for the holiday, and local agencies often use weekday observances to remind the public about safety, services and any changes to schedules.

The sheriff’s department did not include additional details in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
