Pre-kindergarten students at ICS Head Start and Emerson Family School recently participated in a D.A.R.E. lesson titled “What to Do in an Emergency,” according to a post from the Starkville Police Department.
The department, which provides community policing and safety programs across Starkville, Mississippi, emphasizes early education on safety and emergency preparedness. The lesson aims to help young children recognize emergencies, ask for help, and understand the roles of trusted adults and first responders.
Introducing these concepts at an early age is part of broader efforts to promote safety awareness among youth. Such initiatives are designed to empower children and foster positive relationships between police and community members.
