Pike County sheriff’s office conducts active shooter training
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office announced it provided “Active Shooter Training News Part II,” the agency’s Public Relations Department said in a post on its Facebook page.
The sheriff’s office is the primary law enforcement agency for the county and is responsible for public safety, jail operations and emergency response coordination. The public relations post did not provide additional details about the timing, location or participants in the training.
Active shooter training typically focuses on rapid response, interagency coordination, tactical movement, communications and casualty care to improve outcomes in high-risk incidents. Law enforcement agencies conduct such exercises to test procedures, improve readiness and strengthen partnerships with local emergency medical services and fire departments.
The social media post included the hashtag #TeamWallyJones, identifying Sheriff Wally Jones with the initiative. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
