Oxford Police mark first anniversary of new headquarters

One year after cutting the ribbon on its new headquarters, the Oxford Police Department said the facility continues to have a lasting impact on officers, staff and the community it serves.

The department said in a Facebook post that the new building has provided staff with the space and resources needed to better serve Oxford while bringing the department together under one roof. Centralizing operations in a single facility can improve coordination, recordkeeping and response times, officials and policing experts say.

The department thanked Mayor Robyn Tannehill and the Oxford Board of Aldermen for their support and commitment to making the project a reality, saying local elected leaders’ investment in public safety is an investment in the community.

The post marked one official year in the facility and included the department’s pledge to continue serving Oxford “with wisdom and compassion,” the post said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
