Oxford lists storm shelter locations

A Facebook post listed storm shelter locations within the City of Oxford, providing residents designated places to seek refuge during severe weather.

The post identified the following locations: the Oxford Utilities parking lot; the Oxford Activity Center parking lot; the recycling center; OFD Station 4 off Jackson Avenue; and OFD Station 3 off Highway 7 near the Industrial Park. The post also included a link to a Lafayette County community storms page for additional resources.

Storm shelters and designated safe locations play a critical role in community safety during thunderstorms, tornadoes and other severe weather events by offering protected spaces when outdoor conditions become dangerous. Local officials often use social media and county websites to quickly share shelter information with residents when severe weather threatens.

This post provides immediate information for residents seeking shelter. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
