Mystery and Brenden seek new home after veteran loses housing
Mystery, a black dog, and Brenden, a brindle puppy, are looking for a permanent home after their owner, a veteran in south Jackson, lost his housing. The veteran had cared for the dogs for seven years, but when he found a new place to live he was only able to take two of his animals, and the rest of the group was separated.
Chrissy Cheshire, who runs Cheshire Abbey, is coordinating the dogs’ care and said Mystery has been in boarding for months. “If I could find one home today for any of the dozens of dogs we have at the Abbey, it would be for Mystery,” she wrote. Cheshire said Mystery was once shot but has recovered.
Cheshire said Mystery can be protective of food, a likely result of surviving on the streets, and may not be a good match for households with small children. She said Mystery and Brenden are affectionate and would do well with an adult couple or a family with older children. Other dogs that lived with them remain available for adoption as well.
Those interested in adopting or learning more can email [email protected] or text 601-624-2783. Cheshire said adoptions would also help support rescue work at Cheshire Abbey and the veteran who cared for the dogs. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
