Tupelo man charged with felony malicious mischief after display home damaged
Authorities arrested a Tupelo man after a display home at a local business was damaged, the Tupelo Police Department said.
Officers responded May 11 to Repo Home Center at 2500 S. Gloster St. in reference to a damaged display home, the department said. During the investigation, police identified a suspect and arrested Exzadrin Deshun Levi, 22, of Tupelo, the department said. He was charged with felony malicious mischief.
On May 19, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir ordered Levi held on a $10,000 bond, according to court officials. The charges will be presented to the Lee County grand jury for possible indictment, the police department said.
Display homes are used by builders and retailers to show layouts and finishes to prospective buyers, and damage to such properties can lead to criminal charges when investigators determine the actions were intentional. Felony malicious mischief generally involves significant property damage and can carry serious consequences if prosecutors obtain an indictment and win a conviction.
This case remains under investigation. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
