Mississippi Department of Public Safety closes offices for Memorial Day

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said its offices will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. The department said the closure includes all Driver Service Bureaus across the state and that offices will resume normal business hours Tuesday, May 26.

The announcement was posted on the department’s official Facebook page. The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is the state agency that administers driver licensing, highway safety programs and certain law enforcement functions aimed at protecting public safety on roadways.

The closure may affect residents planning in-person visits for driver services. Because Driver Service Bureaus handle transactions such as licensing and ID services, customers are advised to plan ahead and confirm availability before visiting an office.

This observance follows the federal holiday of Memorial Day, a day to honor military personnel who died in service. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
