JPD 71st recruit class reports for duty

JPD announced on its Facebook reel that its 71st recruit class has reported for duty, calling reporting day “unforgettable.”

Reporting day typically marks the start of formal academy training for new officers, when recruits begin classroom instruction, physical conditioning and practical exercises designed to prepare them for patrol and public safety duties.

The arrival of a new recruit class can be significant for the department and the community. Recruit classes help replenish staffing, allow for updated training in areas such as community policing and de-escalation, and can affect response capacity and public safety planning.

Details about the number of recruits, the schedule for their training or the expected graduation date were not included in the social media post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
