Jackson police search for runaway 13-year-old

The Jackson Police Department is attempting to locate 13-year-old Javen Ellis, the department said in a Facebook post. Ellis is 5 feet tall and weighs 130 pounds. He was last seen April 13.

The department provided two contact numbers for anyone with information: 601-960-1800 and 769-209-7439. The post urged anyone who knows the whereabouts of the juvenile to call those numbers.

The Jackson Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency responsible for public safety in the city. Police and local authorities often issue public alerts in missing-juvenile cases to quickly gather tips from the community and to help ensure the safety of the child.

Missing juveniles are time-sensitive cases, and authorities say timely public reporting can be critical to locating a runaway. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
