Jackson Police Department honors fathers on Father’s Day
The Jackson Police Department wished a meaningful Father’s Day to fathers in the community and to fathers among its officers and staff in a message posted on its Facebook page.
“Fatherhood is leadership in its truest form,” the department said, adding that it viewed fatherhood as “patience practiced daily, sacrifice made quietly, and presence that shows up long after the obligation ends.”
The post acknowledged fathers who serve the city in uniform and balance the demands of policing with responsibilities at home, saying, “we see you and we thank you.” The message also thanked stepfathers, grandfathers and other father figures for the roles they play in building trust and safety, and it was signed by Chief RaShall Brackney, Ph.D.
Father’s Day is observed annually in the United States on the third Sunday in June and is commonly marked by expressions of appreciation for fathers and father figures. The department’s message highlighted the role fathers play in strengthening community relationships and supporting public safety.
