Jackson officials, police join community cleanup on Terry Road corridor
City leaders, police officers and volunteers joined a community cleanup Saturday along the Terry Road and Pine Ridge Gardens Apartment Complex corridor, the Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The department said Mayor Horhn operated the garbage truck while Chief Brackney and the regional manager for Pine Ridge Gardens Apartments raked and bagged trash. The post said local clergy group “Always Ready JFD” picked up litter and cut back bushes, and the city’s chief of staff, Cathy Northington, worked alongside other officials.
The post also named members of the Jackson Police Department and mayoral deputies, including Lt. Aaron Allen, among those who took part. The department posted photographs of the effort on its Facebook page showing participants working together to clear the corridor.
Community cleanups like this aim to improve neighborhood appearance and can support public safety and civic pride by removing debris and overgrowth. The Jackson Police Department organized and publicized the event to highlight local engagement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
