Jackson leaders urge collaboration for safe Independence Day weekend
Mayor John Horhn and Police Chief Rashall Brackney hosted a public safety news conference earlier today to address the Fourth of July weekend celebration in the City of Jackson.
Federal, state and local law enforcement officials stood together at the event to express their desire and commitment to work collaboratively toward ensuring a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend, city officials said.
The gathering highlights the roles municipal leaders and police chiefs play in planning for large holiday events, which often bring increased crowds, fireworks and traffic that require coordinated public-safety responses. Local governments typically use such briefings to share safety guidance, encourage lawful behavior and outline available resources without releasing tactical deployment details.
Officials did not provide extensive operational specifics during the announcement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
