Friday brings steady rain; weekend warms into 70s

Friday will be a washout across the area, with cloudy skies and steady periods of rain throughout the day, forecasters say. Highs will reach about 59 degrees with northeast winds of 10 to 15 mph, and total rainfall could approach 1 inch by evening. Showers are expected to continue into the overnight hours as temperatures fall to around 51.

Forecasters advise keeping an umbrella close and travel plans flexible while the rain persists. Wet roads and reduced visibility could affect commutes and outdoor activities.

The outlook improves sharply for the weekend. Saturday will see partly cloudy skies and a high near 72, with rain chances dropping to nearly nothing. Sunday looks mostly sunny and pleasant at about 77 degrees with light winds, offering a better window for outdoor plans.

That stretch of nicer weather is expected to carry into early next week, with Monday climbing to about 80 under partly cloudy skies. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
