Deputies arrest three after locating stolen U-Haul in Yazoo County

YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. — Deputies arrested three people July 28 after receiving tips that led them to a residence on Paradise Road, the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said deputies began looking for Joseph Buford and Kristian Rainey at about 6:30 a.m. after learning that a U-Haul vehicle they were riding in had been stolen from Jackson. Deputies made contact at the Paradise Road residence and placed Buford and Rainey under arrest, the agency said.

While deputies were on scene, Samuel Hoover provided a false statement pertaining to the situation and was arrested as well, the sheriff’s office said. The agency did not provide further details about the alleged theft or any formal charges in its post.

The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Yazoo County, which is located in central Mississippi. Vehicle theft investigations often rely on tips and on-scene interviews to locate stolen property and identify suspects, law enforcement officials say generally.
