2nd Circuit Court District holds crime victims’ rights candlelight ceremony

This morning the 2nd Circuit Court District of Mississippi held its National Crime Victims’ Rights Candlelight Ceremony at First Baptist Church of Gulfport, Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers said in a Facebook post.

Families of victims attended alongside representatives from law enforcement agencies and nonprofit partner organizations, the post said. The annual event included remarks, moments of reflection and the lighting of candles to honor and remember victims of crime.

Organizers said the ceremony provided a chance to recognize the strength and resilience of victims’ families and to reaffirm a shared commitment to supporting victims and pursuing justice in local communities. The 2nd Circuit Court District serves Harrison, Hancock and Stone counties.

Candlelight ceremonies such as this are commonly used by courts, advocacy groups and law enforcement to bring attention to victims’ needs and to strengthen community support networks.
