Mississippi Emergency Agency Offers Space Heater Safety Tips Amid Cold Snap

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has issued safety tips as temperatures drop tonight, December 29, 2025.

Officials advise residents to keep space heaters at least three feet away from flammable objects, plug them directly into wall outlets, and never leave them unattended.

Heaters should be placed on flat, hard surfaces to prevent tipping, and those with automatic shut-off features are recommended in case of tip-over or overheating.

The agency urges residents to follow these precautions to stay safe during the cold weather.
