West Elementary students graduate from D.A.R.E. program
Last Friday, West Elementary School celebrated students who completed a 10-week D.A.R.E. keepin’ it REAL program, the school said in a Facebook post.
The post said the students worked with D.A.R.E. Corporal Kenya Bibbs to learn how to make safe and responsible choices. The school thanked everyone who helped make the graduation a success.
D.A.R.E., or Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a program used in many U.S. schools that aims to teach children decision-making skills and how to resist peer pressure related to drugs, alcohol and risky behavior. Schools and law enforcement agencies often partner to deliver the curriculum to elementary and middle school students.
Officials and educators say programs like D.A.R.E. aim to reinforce safety and healthy choices at an early age and involve families and communities in prevention efforts. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
