Fifth graders have begun participating in the D.A.R.E. program, according to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Antonio Naylor and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department spent time with the students, helping them build skills for making good choices and responsible decisions. The school also noted that its Tigers were featured in the newspaper.

A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
