Greenville police arrest man after alleged domestic violence, gunfire incident

Greenville police arrested Rynaren Ferguson in connection with an alleged domestic violence-related incident involving gunfire on South Colorado Street. Ferguson was arrested without incident on Sept. 24, following an investigation into the Aug. 22 incident.

Officers responded at approximately 11:28 p.m. to the 500 block of South Colorado Street after a reported shots-fired alert and a call for service. A female victim told officers that an altercation had occurred between her and her boyfriend, identified as Ferguson.

According to the preliminary investigation, the altercation began inside the residence and became physical. Ferguson allegedly struck the victim before leaving the residence, then allegedly damaged her 2020 Honda Accord by throwing objects at it. Investigators say he then produced a firearm and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, striking the rear windshield, rear quarter panel and radiator.

Officers found four spent 9mm cartridge casings and one live 9mm cartridge, evidence consistent with the reported gunfire. Ferguson reportedly left the area before officers arrived, and the Greenville Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division took over the investigation.

Ferguson is being held at the Washington Regional Correctional Facility while awaiting his initial appearance. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
