The Vicksburg Police Department has completed the second week of its Citizens Academy, with participants learning about police work, asking questions and getting a firsthand look at work conducted behind the badge.
The department thanked attendees for showing up ready to learn and engage. The academy has completed two weeks and is continuing.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
