The Vicksburg Police Department joined Vicksburg Family Development in celebrating the organization’s 50 years of service to the Vicksburg community.
Deputy Chief Tommy Curtis, Mayor Willis Thompson and several community leaders and partners participated in recognizing the milestone. For five decades, Vicksburg Family Development has worked to serve, support and strengthen families throughout the community.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
