The Panola County Sheriff's Office warned residents after a citizen reported receiving a call from someone identifying themselves as the “Jail Nurse” and the Panola County Jail.
The caller asked the woman to send money to get a family member out of jail. The sheriff's office said it will never call and demand money to release someone, pay a fine or take care of a warrant.

The office also said requests for payment with gift cards should be treated as a red flag.
