Mississippi Gulf Coast residents urged to continue hurricane preparations
The Mississippi Department of Transportation is urging Mississippi Gulf Coast residents to continue preparing for hurricanes, noting that peak hurricane season remains ongoing regardless of current forecasts.
The agency recommends keeping vehicle fuel tanks at least half full. People who drive electric vehicles are advised to keep their vehicles at least half charged.
Residents are also encouraged to create or update emergency contact lists that include family members, professionals and agencies they may need to reach. Preparation guidance includes maintaining a detailed list of current prescriptions and keeping extra over-the-counter medicines available.
The department further recommends uploading copies of important documents to cloud storage so they can be accessed if physical documents are lost or damaged.
