Saturday’s Third Annual Lean On Me Jubilee focused on remembering individuals affected by suicide, supporting survivors and highlighting community resources. The event was held as a free, family-friendly festival affiliated with the Community Foundation of East Mississippi.
The festival featured food vendors, small businesses, entertainment and a dedicated children’s area. The event’s post used the hashtags #SuicideAwareness, #givingback and #wecareaboutyourhealth.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
