The Oxford Police Department, Lafayette County Sheriff's Office, Ole Miss Police and Communicare MS will host a free community Narcan training from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the OPD Training Room, 9 Industrial Park Drive.
Narcan will be provided to all attendees. Registration is not required, and the event is open to everyone.

The announcement follows the loss of two students in the community this week, which it said has affected families, friends, classmates and others who are grieving.
Law enforcement officials said the training is intended to provide life-saving tools while maintaining their commitment to holding people accountable for possessing or distributing illegal narcotics. They also advised people not to use drugs and said enforcement will remain part of efforts to fight illegal narcotics.
