Commerce Street in Tupelo to close for building demolition

Commerce Street in Tupelo will be closed to through traffic between East Main Street and East Jefferson Street beginning at approximately 6:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, for a building demolition project, according to the City of Tupelo Public Works Department.

The street will remain closed until the demolition is complete, weather and site conditions permitting. The closure is intended to provide a safe work area and protect motorists, pedestrians and construction personnel.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use an alternate route. Drivers near the work zone should use caution, follow posted signs and traffic-control devices, and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
