Byram police urge caution during online marketplace transactions

The Byram Police Department is urging residents to use caution when arranging purchases or sales through online marketplaces, including Facebook Marketplace, as the holiday season approaches.

Police recommend meeting in safe, well-lit public places with surveillance cameras, preferably at a local police department. If someone refuses to meet at a police department or another designated safe exchange location, police say that could be a warning sign of fraudulent or criminal activity, and residents should reconsider the transaction.
