Afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase across the southern half of the area, with coverage spreading across the entire area by Friday, according to the US National Weather Service Jackson Mississippi.
Outside of the rain, conditions will remain hot and humid. The weather service advises taking appropriate precautions during prolonged outdoor activity.
