Judge Mims sentences Morrow to 12 years for fentanyl trafficking
Tupelo, Mississippi — May 4, 2026 — Alderius Rashad Morrow pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 years in prison for trafficking fentanyl, the First Circuit District Attorney’s Office said in a press release posted on the office’s Facebook page.
Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims imposed a 40-year prison term with 28 years suspended, leaving Morrow to serve 12 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, the release said.
The release said because Morrow was convicted of a trafficking offense he is not eligible for parole or early release and must serve the full 12-year sentence day-for-day.
The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit investigated the criminal activity, and Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, the district attorney, Jason D. Herring, said in the release.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that law enforcement and public health officials say has driven a rise in overdose deaths nationwide. State and federal authorities have prioritized trafficking prosecutions as part of efforts to curb illegal distribution of the drug.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
