Columbus businesses donate water to keep firefighters hydrated
COLUMBUS, Mississippi — Local businesses donated bottled water to Columbus Fire and Rescue to help keep firefighters hydrated as summer temperatures rise, the department said Thursday.
The department thanked Dan Price and the team at Food Giant, along with Benton and Military Hardware, for the gifts. Officials said the donations support firefighters who train, respond to medical calls, fight fires and spend long hours at emergency scenes.
“We truly appreciate businesses and citizens who continue to support Columbus, MS Fire and Rescue Department and stand behind their first responders,” the department said. “Support like this does not go unnoticed.” The department said something as simple as cold bottled water can make a big difference for the men and women serving the community.
People who want to help may donate bottled water or sports drinks by dropping them off at Columbus Fire and Rescue Station 1, 201 7th St. S. The department thanked Food Giant and Military Hardware for their generosity and continued community support. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
